The SAFE-DRIVE safety documentation has been updated, and the upgrade is available as Generation 2.1. The safety instruction refinements allow for better understanding of the most significant safety parameters, and emphasize different safety layers, check-points and parts that must be in place when operating the SAFE-DRIVE equipment. Also, two cable wires have been added to prevent the locking parts getting lost.
The safety pin and safety clip are attached to the retractor handle with a cable wire, contrasting colors and marks are used to highlight the safety check points. For instance, the safety latch between the isolation valve and the retractor is painted in red to draw the user’s attention. For safe insertion and retraction of the sensor, the user must lock the latch with the safety pin or a padlock. Locking is possible only when the bayonets of the outer casing and isolation valve are aligned. This secures that the casing is properly mounted.
K-Patents strongly recommends all SAFE DRIVE Generation 1 and 2 users to update to the latest generation as a preventative measure to enhance the product safety.
Implementing the upgrade from existing SAFE-DRIVE safety documentation and parts from Generation 2 to Generation 2.1 can be done immediately as the update does not require a shut-down of the process line.
