K-Patents Intrinsically Safe Process Refractometer PR-01-S-AX is a heavy-duty instrument for in-line refractive index measurements in the hazardous atmospheres up to Zone 0 (Class 1, Div. 1). The Intrinsically Safe Sensor is installed in the hazardous area, and the Barrier Unit and Indicating Transmitter are installed in the safe area. The sensor can be installed in large or small pipes, autoclaves, reactors and vessels. The unique digital measurement principle warrants high accuracy and repeatability even in very harsh process conditions. Gas bubbles, particles or colour of the medium do not affect the measurement. The process temperature is measured and it is automatically compensated. The key features: Rugged sensor for demanding applications in the hazardous locations. Easy installation directly in the pipe or vessel through a wide range of process connections. Refractive Index measurement ranges: low range 1.320 – 1.460 R.I. or high range 1.380 – 1.530 R.I. Process temperature range: -20°C –150°C (-4° – 300°F). Completely digital design: no drift, no re-calibration, no maintenance. Accurate temperature measurement and automatic temperature compensation. Wetted parts materials are stainless steel 316L, Teflon® , Spinel, and Kalrez®. Excellent chemical and mechanical resistance. Special alloys available on request. Easy to operate with clear multi-diagnostic messages and programmable alarms . Efficient water or steam wash for the prism: for cases where process residue fouls the sensor’s prism. Steam works when the liquid is particularly sticky or tenacious. In applications where steam may bake the process liquid onto the prism, pressurized water works to clean the prism.
